(Blacksburg)- Virginia Tech is in the midst of preparing a local hotel to be used for student housing. Over-enrollment at the Blacksburg school sent administrators looking for alternative dorm spaces, and the Holiday Inn Express on Plantation Road was selected. There will be two extra-long twin beds and some hotel furniture in each room, while the hotel’s weight room is transforming into a study hall and the pool is closed. Nearly 200 students will stay at what’s now known as HIE Student Housing this year.
