Join us for the Holiday Heroes Earthworks Clearing Drop-In Volunteer Event at Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park on December 6th, from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Help save history by dedicating a few hours to clear overgrowth from the park’s fragile, historic trenches located near the South Lee Drive Bernard’s Cabin Trail. No experience is necessary; NPS staff will meet you at the site to provide a guided walk-through and a short demonstration on safely removing vegetation and applying herbicide. All participants should wear long-sleeved shirts, pants, and a hat, and remember to bring water. As a thank you for helping protect the earthworks, every volunteer will receive a small gift and a Christmas cookie and be automatically entered into the Grand Prize raffle drawing, with an immediate Door Buster prize waiting for the first three volunteers on site! Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
