Sign up for the September 6 Lucky Road Downtown Mile for CASA and run for a reason! The one-mile run through the streets of downtown Fredericksburg is the primary fundraiser for Rappahannock CASA, a local nonprofit that trains caring, committed adults to serve as volunteer personal advocates for children who have been abused or neglected. These advocates are appointed by local judges to provide a voice for children during court proceedings and to make sure vulnerable kids get the services they need to heal from their trauma.
The race, which begins at 6 p.m. near the intersections of George and Charles streets, is part of the Coldwell Banker Elite Grand Prix Race Series and is organized by the Fredericksburg Area Running Club (FARC). The family-friendly event features 4 heats, and everyone is encouraged to dress up as their favorite superhero for the final wave.
Need a new pair of running shoes for the race? No problem! If you visit Rappahannock CASA’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/RappCASA), you can print out a coupon and take it to race sponsor Lucky Road. When you purchase a new pair of shoes, Lucky Road gives CASA $10 and you’ll be entered to win up to $500 on the day of the race.
