(Fredericksburg)- Rappahannock Electric Cooperative is working to deter a common culprit for local power outages. According to the power company, squirrels alone cause about one-thousand each year. REC says they use software to figure out where animals typically cause the most issues. Then they go out and add animal guards and wrap poles with plastic to prevent climbing.
