(Amelia)- Amelia County deputies are being praised for their efforts to step up for young girls in the community. Friday night, Amelia County Elementary School held their annual Sweetheart Dance that is typically for fathers and daughters. There was a group of young girls who did not have dates to the dance, so a group of deputies bought dresses, shoes, and even corsages for the girls. The group picked up their dates in a school bus Friday night, even giving their young dates gift bags ahead of the big dance.
