World War Two Vet Receives Diploma In Hanover

(Hanover)- A World War Two veteran from Hanover County finally has his high school diploma. James Yarbrough was drafted into the U.S. Army during his senior year at Washington-Henry High School in 1944. The Richmond Times-Dispatch says the 93-year-old was presented with his diploma during a Veterans Day ceremony at what is now Washington-Henry Elementary yesterday. The state Department of Education has been offering honorary diplomas to those who served in World War Two, the Korean War and the Vietnam War since 2001.
