Court Rejects Republican Attempt To Stop Drawing Of New District Maps

(DC)- The U.S. Supreme Court is refusing to stop a new map from being drawn for Virginia House of Delegates districts. The Republican Party’s request for a stay until their appeal on the new map is heard was rejected by judges yesterday. A political science professor from the University of California-Irvine was chosen by the court last year to redraw what were ruled to be racially gerrymandered lines in the state. Republicans are still seeking to uphold the current map in an appeal that will be heard soon.
