(Richmond)- Hurricane Florence upon us, and Virginia state agencies are keeping an eye out for price gouging. State Attorney General Mark Herring says a supplier can face penalties if they offer super high prices following a declared state of emergency. This goes for things like water, ice, food, gas, generators, batteries, home repair and tree removal services. The term price gouging usually applies when prices rise more than 25-percent. Officials say there can be some normal price increases at times like this.
