Stafford County Emergency Preparedness and Safety Expo

October 19, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

| Free

Emergencies happen. This free event is a great opportunity to learn, prepare, and have a great time with your neighbors as local emergency personnel give demonstrations and teach on a variety of topics.

Highlights:
The Sheriff’s Department will be bringing a cruiser for display, and they will also have demonstrations outside with their drones and K-9 unit. We’re waiting for confirmation from the fire department, but we’ve requested that they have a fire truck and ambulance on display as well.

A hidden in plain sight room: The Sheriff’s Department will convert one of the classrooms into a teenager’s bedroom and let parents try to figure out where teens and pre-teens often hide contraband. With vaping being such a huge issue right now, this is such a great opportunity for parents.

An American Red Cross blood drive is being held as an eagle project. Donors will automatically be entered in a drawing for a $500 gift card. Walk ins are welcome, or donors can sign up at www.redcrossblood.org.

Retired FBI agent and cybersecurity specialist, Don Cavendar, will speak on computer safety and how to protect ourselves from online predators.

Classes will be conducted by the various emergency service professionals and nurses from Stafford Hospital.

Booths and displays in the commons will include 72-hour-kits, informational booths by emergency management, the various first responders, WIC, the health department, etc.
