UVA Research Identifies Cholesterol As Driver In Alzheimer’s Development

(Charlottesville)- High cholesterol is key in the development of Alzheimer’s disease. That’s according to new research from the UVA School of Medicine. Researchers say it’s behind a certain plaque build-up in the brain connected to the disease. They believe this research could be helpful in Alzheimer’s prevention, saying that it would also explain why those with genes associated with high cholesterol are thought to have an elevated risk for the disease.
