Virginia Tech Names Structure After Enslaved Family

(Blacksburg)- Virginia Tech is renaming a building on campus after an enslaved family. The Board of Visitors approved calling the second-oldest structure on campus in honor of the Fraction Family for their contributions in the creation of the school as a major land-grant university. The Fractions were a large family that lived on what is now the university’s campus and other parts of Blacksburg. One history professor said they’re the people who built the community.
