Judges Order Lawmaker To Adopt New District Map

(Richmond)- Federal judges are ordering Virginia lawmakers to adopt a House of Delegates map that was drawn up by a court-appointed expert. A California-Irvine professor changed up lines in more than two dozen districts after the court ruled the current map was unconstitutional due to racial gerrymandering. The Supreme Court will hear an appeal from the GOP next month. The judges said yesterday that the expert’s map didn’t play into partisan politics. The new map is said to favor Democrats.
