Interstate 95 (Exit 140/Courthouse Road)

Work is underway on a project to improve the I-95 interchange at Exit 140 (Route 630/Courthouse Road). The project includes building a diverging diamond interchange at Exit 140, relocating the Courthouse Road and Route 1 intersection to the south to align with Hospital Center Boulevard, and widening Courthouse Road to four lanes from Cedar Lane to Ramoth Church Road.

Interstate 95 Northbound
(New) Monday – Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m. Expect a single lane on I-95 northbound and the shoulder of the off-ramp from I-95 northbound to Courthouse Road to be closed to allow crews to work on the noise wall barrier. Expect brief daytime delays.
(New) Tuesday – Wednesday, 10 p.m. ˗˗ 4:30 a.m. Expect double lane closures and overnight delays on I-95 northbound near Exit 140. All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m. the following morning.

Interstate 95 Southbound
(New) Wednesday – Friday, 10 p.m. ˗˗ 4:30 a.m. Expect double lane closures and overnight delays on I-95 southbound near Exit 140. All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m. the following morning.

Route 630 (Courthouse Road)
Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 12 p.m. Courthouse Road will be reduced to one lane from Austin Ridge Drive to Red Oak Drive. Crews will be working near the I-95/Exit 140 interchange.
Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. ˗ 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Courthouse Road between Cedar Lane and Walpole Street for grading and pipe work as part of the widening project.

Ramoth Church Road at Courthouse Road
(New) Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. ˗ 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Ramoth Church Road from Courthouse Road to Cutstone Drive for grading and pipe work. Flaggers will direct drivers in the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Reids Road at Courthouse Road
(New) Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. ˗ 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Reids Road to allow trucks to enter and exit the work zone.

Snowbird Lane at Courthouse Road
(Update) Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. ˗ 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Snowbird Lane at Courthouse Road to allow trucks to enter and exit the work zone. Flaggers will direct drivers at the intersection.

Wyche Road at Courthouse Road
(Update) Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. ˗ 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Wyche Road at Courthouse Road to allow trucks to enter and exit the work zone. Flaggers will direct drivers at the intersection.

Woodcutters Road at Courthouse Road
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. ˗ 12 p.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Woodcutters Road between Courthouse Road and Cutstone Drive.

Winding Creek Road at Courthouse Road
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. ˗ 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Winding Creek Road for grading and pipe work as part of the widening project. Flaggers will direct drivers through the interchange and work zone. Expect brief delays.

Interstate 95 Bridge Rehabilitation Project

Work is underway to improve the deck and substructure on several bridges located on I-95 in Stafford and Spotsylvania.

Stafford County: I-95 Bridge over Potomac Creek at mile marker 137
The I-95 bridges over Potomac Creek are located just before Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) at mile marker 137.

• I-95 Northbound:
 Monday – Friday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 4:30 a.m. and Friday, 12 a.m. ˗˗ 7 a.m. Saturday
 9 p.m. – one lane closed
 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – two lanes closed except on Friday when double lane closures will begin at midnight.
 4:30 a.m. All lanes will reopen except on Friday when all lanes will reopen at 7 a.m. on Saturday.

Interstate 95 Exit 130/Route 3/Fredericksburg Interchange Improvement Project

Construction is underway to improve safety on Interstate 95 and Route 3 at the Exit 130 interchange in Fredericksburg. Motorists should be prepared for the following lane closures, construction activity, and temporary traffic shifts on Route 3, I-95 at Exit 130 and/or Central Park shopping area.

Insterstate 95 Southbound
(Update) Sunday ˗˗ Monday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 10 a.m. Expect a single, right lane to be closed on I-95 southbound near Exit 130.

Route 3 Westbound
Monday ˗˗ Friday, 10 p.m. ˗˗ 9 a.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Route 3 westbound near the Central Park intersection.

Route 3 Eastbound
(Update) Monday ˗˗ Tuesday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 4 a.m. Expect a single left turn lane on Route 3 eastbound at Carl D. Silver Parkway to be closed. This is the left turn lane to Central Park’s main entrance.

Carl D. Silver Parkway
(New) Monday ˗˗ Tuesday, 10 p.m. ˗˗ 9 a.m. Expect the single southbound turn lane on Carl D. Silver Parkway to be closed. This is the right turn lane at the Central Park exit towards Route 3 westbound.

Interstate 95 at Exit 118/Mudd Tavern Road Widening and Bridge Replacement Project

Crews are working to improve the interchange on Interstate 95 at Exit 118 (Mudd Tavern Road). The project will build a new I-95 overpass and improve on and off-ramps on Mudd Tavern Road, improve Mudd Tavern Road east of I-95, and Mallard Road.

Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road)
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road) at the I-95 overpass for storm sewer installation. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Mallard Road
Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Mallard Road for storm sewer installation. Motorists should expect brief delays. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone.

Districtwide Flashing Yellow Arrow Project
(Update) Sunday – Friday, 7 p.m. – 5 a.m. Crews will be working at the following intersections to install flashing yellow arrows at several traffic signals in the Fredericksburg District to help drivers turn left safely against oncoming traffic. Flaggers will direct drivers through the intersection. Virginia State Police will also assist with traffic control. Expect brief delays near the following intersections.

Stafford County Work Zones

Route 17 Northbound
(New) Tuesday – Tuesday, April 24 6 p.m. –11 a.m. Expect alternating single lane closures on Route 17 northbound near the I-95 interchange to allow crews to take soil samples.

Route 17 Southbound
(New) Saturday, April 21 – Tuesday, April 24 10 p.m. – 11 a.m. Expect a single lane and shoulder to be closed on Route 17 southbound between Sanford Drive and Short Street to allow crews to take soil samples.

Route 8900 (Centreport Parkway)
(Update) Sunday – Monday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Expect single, alternating lane closures on Centreport Parkway near the bridge approaches and on the bridges over I-95 for repairs. Expect brief delays.

Routine Maintenance
Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:

• Route 1526 (Choptank Road) – pipe repairs

City of Fredericksburg Work Zone

Route 1
(Update) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 10 p.m. ˗˗ 5 a.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on southbound Route 1 near Idlewild Boulevard for traffic engineering work. Expect brief delays.

Mary Washington Boulevard
(New) Monday ˗˗ Thursday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 12 p.m. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane on Mary Washington Boulevard in both directions between Fall Hill Avenue and Hospital Drive to allow crews to work safely in the median. Expect brief delays near the work zone.

Lansdowne Road
The City of Fredericksburg will have an emergency road project underway that will close Lansdowne Road to through traffic until April 27.
While the detour is in place, VDOT will adjust traffic signal timing patterns to accommodate the expected traffic increase in Spotsylvania County at the following intersections:
• Route 1 and Mine Road
• Route 2/Route 17 Business (Tidewater Trail) and Benchmark Road
• Mine Road and Lansdowne Road
• Mine Road and Falcon Drive
• Mine Road and Hardwood Lane

Spotsylvania County Work Zone

Interstate 95 Northbound at Exit 126/Massaponax
(New) Monday, 10 p.m. – 4 a.m. Expect double lane closures on I-95 northbound near Exit 126/Massaponax to allow crews to take soil samples. Crews will be working from the Route 1 overpass to mile marker 128, which is near the Route 208/Courthouse Road overpass. All lanes will reopen at 4 a.m. Expect overnight delays.

Interstate 95 Southbound at Exit 126/Massaponax
(Update) Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Expect a single lane on I-95 southbound near Exit 126/Massaponax to close at 9 p.m. followed by double lane closures at 10 p.m. All lanes will reopen at 5 a.m. Crews will continue repairs to the bridge over Route 1. Expect overnight delays.

Route 17 (Mills Drive)
(New) Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Route 17/Mills Drive between New Post and Benchmark Road for pipe work. Flaggers will direct drivers in the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Route 609 (Jim Morris Road)
(Update) Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Route 609 (Jim Morris Road) between Route 17 (Mills Drive) and Patirot Lane for pipe work. Access to driveways will be maintained for residents who live in this section of Jim Morris Road. Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Route 609 (Thornton Rolling Road)
(Update) Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Route 609 (Thornton Rolling Road) between Route 17 (Mills Drive) and Patriot Lane for pipe work. Access to driveways will be maintained for residents who live in this section of Jim Morris Road. Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Route 612 (Catharpin Road)
(Update) Monday – Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Route 612/Catharpin Road near Route 608/Robert E. Lee Drive and Route 613/Brock Road for pavement patching and line striping. Flaggers will direct traffic in the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Route 614
(New) Wednesday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Route 614/Dickerson Road near Edenton Road and Towles Mill Road for paving and line striping. Flaggers will direct traffic in the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Route 616 (Ford Road)

King George County Work Zone

Route 623 (Jersey Road)
(New) Monday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect alternating one-way traffic on Route 623/Jersey Road between Shiloh Loop and Welcome Road for pavement patching. Flaggers will direct drivers in the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Route 614 (Owens Drive)
(New) Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect alternating one-way traffic on Route 614/Owens Drive between Route 301/James Madison Parkway and Mathias Point Road for pavement patching. Flaggers will direct drivers in the work zone. Expect brief delays.

King William County Work Zone

Route 604 (Herring Creek Road) CLOSED
Herring Creek Road is closed to through traffic between Route 628 (Dorrell Road) and Route 609 (Smokey Road) to allow crews to remove deteriorated corrugated metal pipes from underneath the road near Dorrell Creek. Crews will then install new concrete pipes and endwalls. Signs are posted along the recommended detour, which is approximately eight miles: Rt. 609/Smokey Road, Rt. 608/Locust Hill Road and Rt. 628/Dorrell Road. Weather permitting, work is expected to be complete and the road will reopen to traffic on Wednesday, May 2.

Mathews County Work Zone

Route 14 (Main Street)
Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. A single lane on Route 14/Main Street will be closed between Church Street and Buckley Hall Road to allow crews to install new drainage pipes underneath the road as part of the Mathews Courthouse Area Drainage Project. A flagging crew will alternate, one-way traffic through the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Middlesex County Work Zone

Route 17 Southbound
(Update) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on southbound Route 17/Tidewater Trail near Route 602/Old Virginia Street and Route 33/General Puller Highway for paving. Expect brief delays.

Richmond County Work Zone

Route 3 at Route 608 (Farnham Creek Road)
Monday˗˗ Friday, 7 a.m. –6 p.m. Temporary traffic signals have been activated in the work zone of an ongoing emergency pipe improvement project on Route 3 over Laton’s Swamp. Route 3 has been reduced to a single lane just west of the intersection with Route 608 (Farnham Creek Road). The temporary traffic signals control one-way, alternating traffic in the work zone until the project is complete. Project completion is May 29, 2018.

Route 360 at Downing Bridge
(New) Tuesday˗˗ Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane on Route 360 at the Downing Bridge to allow crews to take measurements for future work. Before the work zone begins, automated flagging stations will be placed near the center of the bridge and will control one-way traffic across the Rappahannock River, one direction at a time. Expect delays at both bridge approaches.

Richmond County Surface Treatment
(Update) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 7 a.m. ˗˗ 5 p.m. Motorists should anticipate lane closures or alternating traffic with flagging operations on various, low-volume secondary routes throughout Richmond County including the following routes: 614, 618, 626, 642, 658, 660, 678 and 679 for surface treatment. Expect brief delays.
