(Fredericksburg)- Hearing history firsthand. Sharon Robinson–Jackie Robinson’s daughter–was in Fredericksburg on Saturday to speak at Sunshine Ballpark to the kids in the Sunshine Baseball League and the community. She said Branch Ricky of the Dodgers chose him to break the color barrier because of his athletic talents AND his character, integrity and passion.
April 15th, 2017 will be the 70th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier in Major League Baseball. She says that day when everyone in baseball wears 42–Jackie Robinson’s number–is always exciting day in her family.
