Stafford County

Route 1
Be alert for a temporary traffic pattern on Route 1 southbound at the site of the new Aquia Hilton. The through lanes on Route 1 southbound from just south of Port Aquia Drive to the southernmost intersection of Route 1 and Coachman Drive (at the 7-Eleven) will be shifted to the left. The continuous center lane for left turns in this area will be closed to accommodate the traffic shift. This work is related to construction of the Aquia Hilton.

Route 17
Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Crews continue working to widen Route 17 to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway. Travel lanes will remain open, but motorists may encounter slight traffic shifts in the work zone.

Route 656 (Greenbank Road)
Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Traffic will be reduced to one lane for paving repairs between Banks Ford Parkway and the dead end. Motorists will be guided through the work zone by a flagging crew.

Routine Maintenance
Monday − Thursday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 6 a.m. – noon. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. VDOT crews will be performing routine maintenance activities in the following locations:

Route 1 – shoulder work

Route 3 – mowing

Route 604 (Belle Plains Road) – brush cutting
Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) – mowing

City of Fredericksburg

Route 3 Eastbound, I-95 Northbound On-Ramp
Wednesday − Thursday, 10 p.m. – 4 a.m. The on-ramp to northbound Interstate 95 from Route 3 eastbound will be closed to traffic from 10 p.m. Wednesday night to 4 a.m. Thursday morning, and from 10 p.m. Thursday night to 4 a.m. Friday morning. Crews are applying high friction surface treatment to the pavement as a safety enhancement to improve driver traction in wet or slick conditions. All through lanes of Route 3 eastbound will remain open.

Fall Hill Avenue
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Intermittent lane closures on Fall Hill Avenue between Carl D. Silver Parkway and the Rappahannock Canal for trucks entering and exiting the work zone. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Mary Washington Boulevard
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Intermittent lane closures on Mary Washington Boulevard between Hospital Drive and Sam Perry Boulevard for trucks entering and exiting the work zone. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Spotsylvania County

Route 1 at Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road)
Monday − Thursday, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. – noon. Crews will be placing pavement markings at the intersection of Route 1 and Mudd Tavern Road/Morris Road. Motorists should expect intermittent single lane closures in the work zone. Weather permitting, construction on this project is anticipated to be completed this week.

Harrison Road
Monday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Intermittent flagging and single lane closures may be required for brief periods for tree removal along Route 620 (Harrison Road). Tree removal is in connection with Route 1 and Harrison Road intersection improvement project.

Saddlebrooke
Thursday − Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Subdivision paving will be underway. Motorists can expect mobile single lane closures throughout the neighborhood.

Routine Maintenance
Monday − Thursday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 6 a.m. – noon. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. VDOT crews will be performing routine maintenance activities in the following locations:

Route 3 – mowing

Route 208 (Courthouse Road) – mowing

Caroline County

Route 301
Monday – Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Route 301 will be reduced to a single lane between the Hanover County line and the Mattaponi River bridge. Crews will be performing trench widening on road shoulders.

Routine Maintenance
Monday − Thursday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 6 a.m. – noon. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. VDOT crews will be performing routine maintenance activities in the following locations:

NORTHERN NECK

King George County

Route 607 (Port Conway Road)
Monday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Paving and milling will be underway between Route 301 and Route 660 (Canning Way). Route 607 (Port Conway Road) will be reduced to one lane in this mobile work zone.

Richmond County

Route 360
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Single lane closures on either Route 360 eastbound or Route 360 westbound for a sidewalk, ramp and pedestrian crossing construction project at the intersection of Route 3 Business and Route 360 in the Town of Warsaw.

Lancaster County

Merry Point Ferry
The Merry Point Ferry is out of service for routine maintenance and painting of the vessel.

Lancaster/Middlesex County

Route 3 at Robert O. Norris Bridge
Sunday − Thursday, 7 p.m. – 6 a.m. Route 3 will be reduced to one lane on the Norris Bridge over the Rappahannock River for concrete repairs to the bridge’s travel surface. A pilot vehicle will guide motorists through the work zone.

MIDDLE PENINSULA

Middlesex County

Route 603 (Farley Park Road)
Monday − Thursday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Friday, 7 a.m. – noon. Patching work will be underway on Route 603 (Farley Park Road) between the King and Queen county line and Route 602 in advance of upcoming paving work. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in this mobile work zone. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Gloucester County

Route 605
Monday − Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Stay alert for crews and a mobile work zone. Crews are scheduled to apply shoulder stone and paint lane markings.

Fredericksburg

Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project
Construction is underway on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Fall Hill Avenue between the Rappahannock Canal bridge and Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park), as well as on Mary Washington Boulevard. The project will be completed in January 2017.

Stafford County

Route 610/Onville Road Intersection Improvement Project
Construction is underway at the intersection of Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) and Route 641 (Onville Road) to build additional turn lanes. Traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction on Onville Road. The project will be completed in May 2017.

Route 17
Construction is underway to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The work zone extends from just south of the I-95 interchange to Cardinal Forest Drive. Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic pattern and periodic lane closures. This project will be completed by December 2016.

Route 17 Business
A crossover on Route 17 Business was permanently closed May 18 at the intersection with Melchers Drive and Washington Street. A raised concrete median was installed.

Spotsylvania County

Route 1 and Route 606 (Morris Road/Mudd Tavern Road)
Construction is finishing this week, weather permitting, to add left turn lanes on Route 1 northbound and southbound to enhance safety at the intersection of Route 1 and Mudd Tavern Road/Morris Road in the Thornburg area of Spotsylvania County.

Route 1 and Route 620 (Harrison Road)
Construction to build additional turn lanes and extend existing turn lanes is underway at the intersection of Route 1 and Harrison Road in Spotsylvania County. Motorists should be alert for construction crews and equipment. The project is scheduled to be completed in May 2018.

Caroline County

Route 722 (Nelson Hill Road)
Nelson Hill Road is closed to traffic at the bridge over the Mattaponi River for a bridge rehabilitation project. Motorists should follow the posted detour route. Estimated completion is mid-September 2016.

Caroline County/King George County

Route 301 at Rappahannock River
Bridge rehabilitation is underway on the James Madison Memorial Bridge over the Rappahannock River. Maintenance will occur below the bridge deck and includes repairing concrete, replacing bearings, shoring up rip-rap on the slope, and replacing navigation lights. All lanes are currently open on the bridge, but single lane closures will be installed in the future. Project completion is October 2017.

Westmoreland County

Route 205 at Mattox Creek
Construction is complete on a project to build a new Mattox Creek bridge. Two travel lanes are open on the bridge, and temporary traffic signals have been removed.

Route 205/Route 631 (Longfield Road)
Motorists should be alert to construction crews and equipment in the vicinity of Route 205 and Route 631 (Longfield Road) as crews work to improve the existing intersection. The project will realign and widen the intersection and construct a right turn lane on Route 205 for vehicles turning onto Longfield Road. This project will be completed by July 2016.

Richmond County

Route 3 Business and Route 360 Pedestrian Improvements
Construction has begun to install new sidewalks, handicapped-accessible ramps and pedestrian crossing equipment at the intersection of Route 3 Business and Route 360 in the Town of Warsaw. Most construction will occur outside of the roadway. Intermittent lane closures will be needed for trucks to deliver materials, for the construction of curbs and ramps, and for the installation of pedestrian crossing equipment, crosswalks, and final lane markings. Project completion is scheduled for July 18, 2016.

Lancaster County

Route 200 Sidewalk Construction
Construction is underway to install new sidewalk along Route 200 (Irvington Road) in the Town of Irvington. A new sidewalk will be installed along the east side of Irvington Road beginning at the intersection with Route 634 (King Carter Drive), and will continue for approximately 400 feet to the south. Most construction will occur outside of the roadway. Intermittent lane closures will be needed for trucks to deliver materials, construct curb modifications, and for crews to paint crosswalks and final lane markings. Construction will conclude by June 24, 2016.

Essex County

Route 17 Reconstruction at Tignor Creek
Construction was expected to be complete late Friday, May 20, on a project to reconstruct Route 17 at Tignor Creek in Tappahannock to raise the road elevation. This project seeks to reduce flooding on this critical hurricane evacuation route. Check www.511virginia.org for real-time updates.

King and Queen County

Route 631 (Fleets Mill Road)
Route 631 (Fleets Mill Road) will be closed to traffic at the bridge over Fleets Creeks until late June 2016 for a bridge replacement project. During the closure, traffic will be detoured to Route 17 (The Trail) to Route 360 (Richmond-Tappahannock Highway) and back to Route 631.

Gloucester County

Route 198 (Dutton Road) Bridge Rehabilitation
A bridge superstructure replacement is underway on Route 198 (Dutton Road) at Harper’s Creek. The project includes installing a new bridge deck, guardrail, and improving the bridge approaches. Traffic on the bridge has been reduced to a single travel lane. Traffic is controlled by temporary traffic signals on each bridge approach. Project completion is scheduled for May 2016.
